Know when your site quietly breaks
A free site monitor for the changes nobody notices until traffic drops: robots.txt suddenly blocking Google or AI search bots, a new noindex, broken redirects or a sitemap that disappears. Backlnk checks every week and e-mails you only when something changes.
What we watch
The things that break sites without anyone noticing
The site still loads, so nobody looks. Meanwhile search engines and AI answers slowly lose it.
Search engines blocked in robots.txt
Whether robots.txt lets Googlebot, Bingbot and Applebot crawl your home page.
Why it matters: One stray Disallow line, often left over from a staging site or a plugin update, quietly removes a site from search over the following weeks.
AI search bots blocked in robots.txt
Whether OAI-SearchBot, Claude-SearchBot, PerplexityBot and other AI search crawlers are allowed.
Why it matters: AI answers can only cite pages their search crawlers may fetch. A blanket bot rule or a CDN setting can lock them out without anyone noticing.
robots.txt becoming unreachable
Whether robots.txt still answers, and with what status.
Why it matters: When robots.txt fails with a server error, Google may treat the whole site as blocked and stop crawling until it works again.
A new noindex on the home page
The robots meta tag and the X-Robots-Tag header of your home page.
Why it matters: A noindex shipped by mistake, for example with a theme change or a release, drops the page from search results even though it still loads fine.
Broken redirects
How your home page redirects, and whether the redirects end on a working page.
Why it matters: Redirect loops, long chains and redirects to error pages waste crawling and can make the site unreachable for visitors and bots alike.
A sitemap that disappears
Whether your XML sitemap can still be found and fetched.
Why it matters: Without a sitemap, new and updated pages are discovered more slowly; a sitemap often vanishes after a migration or a plugin change.
How it works
Set it up once, hear about changes
Step 1
Enter your website
Add the site and the address that should hear about changes.
Step 2
Confirm your e-mail
Nothing starts until you click the link. Your first status report arrives right after you confirm.
Step 3
Weekly re-checks
Every week Backlnk checks the site again, politely and within fixed limits.
Step 4
E-mail only on change
You hear from us only when something changes. Every e-mail has a manage link and a one-click stop.
Honest limits
What the monitor does — and doesn't
- Up to 3 websites per e-mail address at the same time.
- Each check looks at the home page, robots.txt and the sitemap of the site, not every page.
- Checks run once a week, so this is an early warning rather than real-time uptime monitoring.
- Results go to the confirmed e-mail address only and are never published.

Frequently asked questions
- Is the site monitor really free?
- Yes. There is no cost, no card and no sign-up. You enter a website and an e-mail address, confirm the address, and the weekly checks start.
- How often will you e-mail me?
- Once right after you confirm, with the current status of your site. After that only when a weekly check finds a change, for example when robots.txt starts blocking a crawler or a noindex appears. If nothing changes, you hear nothing.
- What exactly is checked?
- Your home page (whether it is reachable, whether it carries a noindex and how it redirects), robots.txt (whether it can be fetched and whether it blocks search engines such as Googlebot, Bingbot and Applebot or AI search bots such as OAI-SearchBot, Claude-SearchBot and PerplexityBot) and whether your sitemap is still there.
- How many websites can I monitor?
- Up to 3 websites per e-mail address at the same time. Stop one of them to make room for another.
- How do I stop monitoring?
- Every e-mail has a one-click unsubscribe link and a link to manage your monitor, where you can see the latest results and stop the checks. Stopping takes effect immediately.
- Why do I have to confirm my e-mail?
- So that monitoring e-mails only go to people who asked for them. If you didn't request a monitor, ignore the confirmation e-mail and nothing else will arrive.
- What do you do with my e-mail address?
- We use it only to send the monitoring e-mails you asked for and keep it with your monitor. See our privacy page for details.
